You may see a stale request page if you are logging in to a library eBook, eJournal or other eResource and press the back button on your browser from the log in page.

If you click the back button from the logging in page, it can't take you back anywhere as the page was created just to help you log in, so it gives the stale request page. Sometimes you may not even see the logging in page as you will already be logged in. However, if you click the back button the effect will be the same.

Sometimes, your web browser remembers this page and keeps showing it to you when you want to log in. Clearing your web browser's cache and cookies usually fixes this.
