The Manchester Metropolitan University Library catalogue is the main inventory of books, journal titles (print and online), media, and other documents held by Library Services. Library Search is a search engine that searches all of the records in the Manchester Metropolitan University Library catalogue as well as articles from our eJournals and databases and some items from our special collections.
Library Search excels at finding a multitude of resources on a topic when you search using keywords. Just like Google Search, if you use keywords that describe the topic you would like to find research about, Library Search will help you discover what has been published on that topic.
When you need to find a specific book or hard copy journal you can use Library Search but it may be better to use the Library catalogue and search by specific fields (ie author, title, etc.). If you want to check whether Library Services subscribes to a particular eJournal use the Findit! eJournal A-Z list.
Library Search will help you discover items in our Special Collections, but the Special Collections catalogue contains more content and again would be a better starting point if you are searching for a specific item.
