About closed captions / subtitles
Many Lynda videos have subtitles or closed captions. These will display beneath the video, so you can watch the video without sound and understand what is being talked about. It means you can watch the video in full screen or pop out mode without sound. They are in addition to the transcript.
You control whether to display closed captions for a video from the video control toolbar. You only see this toolbar once a video starts playing as it gives you the option to pause, move through the video, view in full screen and turn closed captions on or off.
Here's how to switch closed captions on or off:
1. Choose a video you want to watch. Select the Play button (screenshot below) to start the video.
Once you start the video, the video player controls are available at the bottom of the video screen (screenshot below).
2. Select the Caption/Subtitles button called CC (screenshot below) to switch closed captions on or off for that video. If the button is yellow, caption/subtitles are on. If the button is grey, caption/subtitles are switched off.
Check Lynda's FAQs for more information about closed captions.
