When you renew an item you extend the loan period for a book or other loanable item.
A loan period is the length of time that you may borrow a book or other item from the Library.
Items have different loan periods depending on their popularity. So some items are available for you to borrow overnight and must be returned the next day, you may not renew these items online.
Others, you can borrow for a week at a time and others you can borrow for twenty eight days. You can renew these items up to ninety nine times as long as they are not reserved by another person. If they are reserved you must return them before the date they are due back to the Library otherwise you will incur a fine for late return of the book.
