These EndNote instructions may differ depending on whether you are on- or off-campus and on the browser you are using. If the instructions do not work please refer to the EndNote guide.

Here's how to export references from the Manchester Metropolitan University Library catalogue to EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web):

  • Search the Library catalogue for references
  • Save references to your My References folder
  • You'll be asked to save your references to a list, either add it to one you've already done or create a new list, then click on Save.
  • You can export at this point if you wish, if you do not want to export a number of references.
  • Select RIS
  • Open the downloaded file and choose EndNote Web
  • Log in with your EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web) username and password.

If you want to export a selection of references:

  • Save references to a list in your My References folder
  • Open your My References folder.

(Saved references in the Library catalogue are in temporary folders unless you log in with your university username and 4-digit library PIN to save your list.)

  • Near the bottom of the page is an option to Export.
  • Select RIS
  • Open the downloaded file and choose EndNote Web
  • Log in with your EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web) username and password.

Please note

There is an option to export to EndNote. This option will export directly to EndNote. So it will work with on-campus PCs with EndNote installed or if you have purchased a personal copy of the full version of the software. It does not give you the option to export your references to EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web). Use the RIS option when exporting to EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web).
