One of the purposes of referencing is to enable others to find the information that you have used in your work. As it would not be possible for others to locate this type of source, you should first check with your tutor if they are happy for it to be used in your assignment. If they agree to this, you should use the following formats for citing and referencing. The reference elements will depend on the type of internal document you want to reference

Citation elements

The name of the company/organisation and the year.

Example citation

(Manchester Metropolitan University, 2018) OR, if using a ‘direct quote’, (Manchester Metropolitan University, 2018:3)

Reference elements

Name of company/organisation. (Year) Title of document. Document number (if provided). Unpublished internal company document.

Example reference

Manchester Metropolitan University. (2018) Flexible working policy. Unpublished internal company document.
