Currently some problems, workarounds available
ScienceDirect is currently experiencing two separate problems:
1. Logging in
When you log in you may get an error message (screenshot below) saying You cannot access this item. To get remote access to Science Direct, Log in via Manchester Metropolitan University: ignore it, just select Close. You'll find that you are actually logged in and can access everything you should be able to.
2. Direct article linking is currently broken (fixed 26th January 2015)
When you link through to an article from Library Search or Find it!, you will not get directly to the article. Instead, you'll land on the ScienceDirect home page. You can then use the browse publications by title to get to the journal title or enter some words from the article title in the search box to navigate to the article you require. Update: the suppliers of our linking system Find it! are performing a fix to help solve this linking problem overnight on 26th January 2015.
We have contacted the suppliers about these issues, which are affecting users globally.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
